Please join us for an evening with Dr. Susan Swedo, M.D., Principal Investigator and Chief of the Paediatrics & Developmental Neuroscience Branch at the U.S. National Institute of Mental Health and Dr. Wendy Edwards, Chief of Paediatrics, Chatham Kent Health Alliance, Adjunct Professor of Paediatrics, Schulich School of Medicine, University of Western Ontario, B.Sc.N, M.D., F.R.C.P.C., to understand more about the autoimmune conditions P.A.N.D.A.S. and P.A.N.S. and the latest in diagnostic, treatment, research and support practices.

P.A.N.D.A.S is short for Paediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections and P.A.N.S. is short for Paediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Disorder.

ADHD symptoms (hyperactivity, inattention, fidgety)

Separation anxiety (child is "clingy" and has difficulty separating from his/her caregivers; for example, the child may not want to be in a different room in the house from his or her parents)

Mood changes, such as irritability, sadness, emotional lability (tendency to laugh or cry unexpectedly at what might seem the wrong moment)

Trouble sleeping, night-time bed-wetting, day-time frequent urination or both

Changes in fine motor skills (e.g. changes in handwriting)

Joint pains and more
